    WordCamp Victoria 2011

We have a WordCamp coming up on January 22, 2011 in Victoria, British Columbia. This is the third one here, and the last one attracted 130 WordPressers.

I’m keen to find a great keynote; we budgeted for this. Any suggestions? Otherwise I’ll blow the budget on cool t-shirts!

Hi guys. WordCamp Ireland is a go and we’re doing well with speakers and sponsors so far. The venue should be great if it isn’t under water by March. We’re most focused on speakers for our tech track and wondered if anyone had any ideas for getting speakers for specific talks you want to appear; we have a lot of demand for WordPress Frameworks, Hacking the Loop and Hacking Under the Hood (that would be stuff like hacking comment forms and search boxes). Also if someone could tell me what a WordPress Genius Bar is that would be great because that sounds fun. Thanks!

Genius bar is made of WordPress “geniuses”, (sort of like the Apple genius bar), where anyone can come up and ask their WP question or get advice. In SF, we use a timer and set it for a few minutes or so.

How do you go about identifying good speakers who are local? I’ve been monitoring Twitter for people talking WordPress in my local area and it’s hit and miss. Also, if you have a “local WordPress celeb” how do you begin the conversation about having them speak at your conference?
