The team working on WPML plugin is interested in sponsoring/helping with WordCamp site translation.

    They says they can:
    1. multilingualize the site
    2. translate the site theme and contents with icanlocalize service (list of supported languages)
This is only for site you host; not wordcamp.org hosted ones.

Please comment or contact them if you are interested.

I posted my report on WordCamp Kyoto.

    http://blog.detlog.org/2009/11/04/wordcamp-kyoto-2009-report/

I wrote in there too, but doing a survey really helps if you are planning to do it next year or just want to see how you did. We used the form functionality of Google Spreadsheet and it worked pretty well.

@Maya – I’ll be sending you a shirt (polo shirt this time!) to the Pier. Do you want me to send you a goodie bag with the logo too?

Yay! T-shirt!! Naoko, if you haven’t already sent it, could you send it to my house? Mail at the Pier is sketchy.

Having fun editing the site with the new WordCamp theme.

    http://kyoto.wordcamp.org/

    Idea:
Would be nice to have pre-populated pages like speakers, schedule, blog badges/banners…
I’m taking a look at 2009.sf.wordcamp.org site while making new pages, but why not have blank templates set up to begin with?
    (same for some widgets too)
Not sure if this is really easy to do or not, but just a thought.

WordCamp Kyoto will be on October 17th. Fall is an amazingly beautiful season in Kyoto. If you’re planning to visit Japan in the future, this is a great timing to meet up with Japanese WordPress users!

Since Maya mentioned this site today, decided to come take a peek & introduce myself.
I’m Naoko, one of the organizers of WordCamp Tokyo 2008 & 2009 (+ WordCamp Kansai Party 2009). and… I live in Michigan :)
We don’t have any plans for next year yet, but I’m looking forward to doing another one & helping other cities to organize more in Japan.

Do you know anyone else that might be interested in organizing another one in Japan? How about one in MIchigan (Noel’s there too!).

      • Naoko McCracken 3:36 pm on July 20, 2009 Permalink | Reply

I’ve asked Japanese community organizers – nothing set yet, but I’ve told them to let me know when they decide to organize one. There are a lot of meetups lately. They are in (good) process of building local communities in prefecture or city level.
For Michigan – I’ll bring that up during next local meetup. Would be great to have even a small one to have Noel and Nick speak.

That would be great. Meetups are a great place to find potential attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers and co-organizers.
